Being in the movies means never having to say "Goodbye"

Ever noticed how people in movies never say “Goodbye” when they hang up the phone? Well, I have, and am apparently not the only one. Here’s a collection of scenes where it happens:

And why is that? Well, I’d say it’s simple negligence on the writers’ parts. Ken Levine, of comedy writing fame, seems to agree, and adds:

In my scripts characters always say goodbye and thank you. Perhaps that’s why I’ve never won an Oscar.
