Just so bleak and brutal.

I saw this twice in a KC metro area big box movie theatre when I was sixteen, and I'll always remember it that way. Rewatched it now, almost thirty years later, and apart from Romeo and Juliet now actually looking and feeling (to me) like the kids they are in the story, I still find it's an amazing achievement. Soundtrack still slaps as well (listened to that on my lil discman day and night for months - cemented my love for the Butthole Surfers).

I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would. Narratively all over the place, in a good way.

Waited fourteen years to watch this, for some reason. It's a very good and very uncomfortable film, in many regards.
