Since it’s Saturday, traditionally the day for idleness and general hilarity, I decided to upgrade my WordPress installation to 1.5.1. I don’t think it’s really necessary, but as you all know, I like to stay on top of things. Well, on top of some things. Just to demonstrate what a mess on your computer can do to you, let me recount the happenings of the last hour:
I deleted all my WordPress files, save the ones I modified. I then went into the folder on my computer where I had stored the new WordPress version. I uploaded all the contents to my server. Everything went fine, but afterwards I noticed a strange PHP-warning at the bottom of the screen when accessing my site. I checked the WordPress support page, amounting to nothing. So I did a bit of searching, and while inside the admin-panel of WordPress, I noticed that it still said: 1.5…not 1.5.1. So I checked the folder on my computer and noticed that I had re-uploaded 1.5 instead of 1.5.1. Isn’t that totally crazy? Wrong folder!
Well, there you go. A most boring story, which somehow, like a slimy mollusk, evaded my ability to turn even the most dull of occurrences into exciting adventures. Let me make it up to you with a picture:
Have a nice day.
