Thought about going to university in Austria? Better think again, because according to this source (in German), if you’re not an Austrian citizen, and especially if you’re not from an EU country, it’s going to be a bit expensive. If you’re from a developing country, be prepared to pay twice as much as Austrian students and not ever see a cent of it again. But hey, it’ll only set you back 726 Euros. That’s just a year of working the fields, and you’ll be able to study for a whole semester. As always, the government blames the new autonomy of the universities (which they forced upon them), washing their hands in innocence. If somebody ever wondered why the rich become richer, and the poor become poorer, that’s why.
