#filmlog: Project Hail Mary, 2026 - ★★★

Kinda torn on this one. Loved the book but was turned off by how jokey they made the film. There's some wry humour in the book, and they took that and turned it into a buddy movie (even before the real buddy shows up). I wish they'd spent a bit more time actually explaining the severity of things or whatever the fuck is actually going on. Pivotal moments are often glossed over in favour of adding yet another "look at this weirdo doing weird shit, what is my life, amiright?" moments. All in all, it was fine, had its moments, but it could've been quite a bit more.

This is a post pulled in via Letterboxd, find all of them here. Reviews are short and sweet and very subjective. I'm not a film-major, folks.
