My love affair with mp3 provider Allofmp3 lasted only a mere four months. It has now come to an abrupt ending, and for a reason you don’t usually find in a relationship:

They also added they are “working hard to resume the service”. Being stationed in Russia, this could either mean their servers are broken or their servers have been confiscated by the police, simply because they feel like it. Let’s hope for the former.
Payment has been a sore issue with the company for a while now, not least because XRost, a company that provides paysafe cards and works with paypal, has been defunct now for longer than two months. For people who don’t want to hand out their credit card number to either a company with void SSL licenses or one that simply doesn’t validate credit cards, XRost was the perfect solution.
The message in XRost’s payment area is as non-committing as the one on the Allofmp3 payment site.
I do hope that both companies will soon resume business. It’s awfully silent here without them.
I empathise completely, the apparent loss of Xrost has placed a monumental brick wall in front of my musical indulgence. Despite there being no cases of fraudulent activity I am still a little nervous about handing over my credit card number to a company operating on such flaky grounds.
HOWEVER, there is a solution if a) you live in the UK, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Holland or Belgium and b) you don’t mind a bit of effort. This solution has recently been ‘advertised’ on http://www.cmpass.com (the site that http://www.xrost.com suggests is its new platform).
It involves using PayPoint - a service offered by most high street convenience stores in the countries listed above - to purchase “Ukash” credits. Go to http://www.ukash.com to download and print a voucher with a barcode and take it to a shop that offers the PayPoint service. The shop will then exchange your crisp notes for a 19 digit number. Send the 19-dig number, amount and currency to the email address on the Cmpass website and they will reply with a fresh new Xrost Code and PIN which you can then plug into allofmp3!
Well, I did say it involved a little effort didn’t I! But it’s worth it. I was a bit nervous about sending the code off to a potential blackhole at first, after all this code can be used by any bearer. I paid for a 10GBP ukash voucher just in case. Thankfully however it came through with no problems and just moments later I was back in business. Cmpass say that they are working on a more automated solution to retrieve Xrost codes from Ukash vouchers though.
Long live allofmp3!
Interesting! I’ll look into that, but I’ll have to travel over to Germany to do that then.
Oh for christ’s sake!
Just went off to buy a £10 ukash voucher, got one. And now I find cmpass no longer accept them!
Why are they constantly messing us around? All I want to do is give them my money!
Sorry, I have to revise my above statement:
While cmpass do not give instructions on how to exchange ukash for iCards on their website anymore, after contacting their support staff I learnt that all you need to do is this:
Email ukash@cmpass.com with your 19-digit ukash voucher number and the value of that ukash voucher. I found within 40 minutes I was given my iCard which I am now happily using with allofmp3.com
Which UK high street stores were you going to? I went to sevral and none of them knew waht i was on about……?!
You need to print off a Ukash Coupon and take it along to the shop. For the UK use the link below for the coupon.
http://www.ukash.com/documents/ukash_coupon.pdf
And this link to find a PayPoint shop near you:
http://customer.map24.com/ukash/index.php
The shop may still not know what Ukash is, but as soon as they flash the barcode in front of their PayPoint machine it will all start to happen.
Hi,
I logged on the cmpass website the last three days and I always got the following message:
“Dear Valued Customer,
Our server has reached daily purchase limit. Please come back for new iCards tomorrow.
Sorry if it cause any inconvenience.”
I tried it twice late in the evening and now once again. Did anyone of you receive the same message? If the problem is known, what is the best time to be able to use the service?
Does anyone know if there exist a list with all shops who are selling Ukash? It’s quite difficult to find a shop just on the map without any addresses…
How difficult is it so give my money to allofmp3.com I’m close to use my credit card because I really want to download more music!
Thanks for your help!
I bought a ukash voucher at my local Co-op with no problems whatsoever and converted it to a CMPASS icard within an hour.
That was about 3 weeks ago though and their website doesn’t mention any purchase options any more.
Personally I don’t worry about giving allofmp3 a credit card number because of fraud - I worry in case allofmp3 are forced to hand the credit card list over to the RIAA or BPI.
Hello All Xrost/Cmpass users,
We’re working hard to bring our service back on line. Ukash payment option will be added on Monday (17.07).

Hi Guys,
Xrost.biz works with Ukash now. To make a payment, all you need to do is to:
- buy a Ukash voucher for cash at your local store,
- go to Xrost at xrost.biz to fund Xrost iCard and then,
- go to the allofmp3 site and redeem your iCard.
That’s it!

Hi,
i bought a ukash £10 voucher fine from my local texaco garage. Then went to xrost.biz to get a $10 icard voucher.
Put the 19 digit number in then the amount 10 (so should get $10 worth of vouchers and a new number for the remainder)
First i got “lost connection to Mysql server during query”, then when i run again i get “converted settle amount greater than voucher value”
can anyone help or explain what this might mean?
Cheers
Rich
