What can I say? I’m one happy pup.
Next steps:
* Wipe off Windows
* Install Kubuntu
* Remain in deep and everlasting gratitude to my wonderful sister who made this beast possible.

Nice dude!
Keep Windows & dual-boot it with OSX. Then install Kubuntu and use it as your primary OS.
what a beauty?
good luck with it and may the frienship last a long long time.
Seem to be a nice machine.
I tried an ubuntu live cd on my powerbook yesterday, but with no luck.
What’s exactly the difference between u/k/x-ubuntu? I used kubuntu once and it looked horrible.
@Chris: Well, Ubuntu is the original distro, loaded with Gnome as GUI. Kubuntu (as the name implies) comes loaded with KDE, which I’ve come to like a lot.
As for looks, KDE really is quite versatile…you can make it look like any OS out there. You might want to look at this picture of my current desktop setup, and you’ll see that it can in fact look very pretty
hey nice move over to linux, I’m jealous.
I have yet to make the full conversion because of fright.
@Nick: Don’t be afraid, it’ll all be good ;o
No, seriously, get yourself a Kubuntu CD and try it out…it’s really as easy as it gets, and there’s no need for fright when doing a dual-boot installation.
