Here are a few insightful lines by comment spammers. Why do I always get the impression they are really underpaid highschool English teachers?
In the consciousness of the truth he has perceived, man now sees everywhere only the awfulness or the absurdity
I lay it down as a fact that if all men knew what others say of them, there would not be four friends in the world.
The total absence of humour from the Bible is one of the most singular things in all literature.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. I especially like the last one. Hey, why don’t you chime in on my discussion with one Peter Ould in the comments of that one posting? That would be fun indeed!
Tonight I’ll be listening live to Lebrisk, my little brother’s brainchild and band for the last three years. Unfortunately, it’s going to be the first time I’ll be seeing them live, and it’s even more unfortunate that it’s going to be their last show. They’ve actually been quite successful for a local band (not money-wise…fame-wise rather), and it’s too bad they’ll have to break up, but with my brother leaving Austria to pursue his acting career, there was no other way. So, if you want to come too, and happen to be in my part of Austria, by all means do. Check time and location on the website linked to above. And make sure to listen to some of their sound bytes, just in case you don’t like surprises.
Finally, the Google Toolbar for Firefox has been released. It features such useful things as a spell checker, auto linking of street names (which unfortunately, but not surprisingly, only works in the US), and of course all kinds of little things which are supposed to make life easier. The spell checker is really quite handy, since it’ll prevent me from ever again publishing grossly misspelled words. And no, I didn’t need the spell checker to write those last few words properly.
I just remembered that yesterday the European parliament had to decide on the fate of a directive regarding the patentability of software, and by checking the appropriate website, I read that once again the directive has been axed. I’m really happy about that, since I was already pondering what operating system I would adopt once Linux would have been broken by the directive. I’m glad I won’t have to switch to the Mac OS just yet.
By the way: it may well be that postings from now on will be riddled with errors, logical inconsistencies (even more than now) and inane babble. This is due to me starting work at 7 AM, which means that at night, when I’ve got time to write my entries, I’m already dead-tired and most probably without any real clue what to write about. And yes, it’s very difficult to come up with interesting things to write if you’re not able to check your aggregator every half hour.
PS: Damn, I can’t believe how much of a crybaby I am. It’s just work, fool! Loosen up!
Had my first day of work at the factory today, and as expected, it’s going to be much like last year. Lots of intricate machinery, lots of confusing abbreviations and acronyms, and lots of stuff for me to look up in technical dictionaries. But I’m not complaining. They’ve got quite the cafeteria, there are coffee vending machines all over the place and I could even smoke at my workplace (if I didn’t care that everyone else is smoke-free). And I get paid for that as well. If only I didn’t have to start at 7 AM.
