Tomorrow I’ll be leaving for the US, in order to attend a wedding. I’ll be spending a week there, and although I’ll probably be snapping hundreds of pictures, I won’t have time to update this blog regularly. Rest assured though, a flood of entries will document my journey once I’ve returned. That’s what I’ve got my little Moleskine for.
By the way, since I’ll have to sit out a five-hour stay at Dulles Airport in Washington, I wondered if anyone knows of anything interesting to do there. Please let me know.
My part in the music meme thing I answered and passed on about three months ago has finally been completed. Michael from Binary Bonsai has answered it, and Hanni from pinksocks got the hint as well. I’m glad they didn’t mention that I passed it on to them, otherwise the carefully constructed aura of secrecy I created around this very site would have been breached by the thousands of people streaming here. Not to mention the bandwidth it had cost me.
After fiddling around for ages (due to my complete and utter lack of knowledge of how stuff works), I’ve managed to implement the Super-Archive by Jonas Robbe. It’s a beautiful and convenient way of looking through my archives, and much better than anything I’ve used before. By the way, while trying to style it the way I want it, I noticed that my CSS stylesheet is a damn mess. I really need to clean that up sometime.
Today I finally got ahold of two new give-aways. This part of my website has been suffering from a scandalous lack of entries, mainly because I have failed to pay attention to potential away-givers. Which again is due to an extensive use of my mobile mp3-player. Well, since elections for the students union are coming up, more and more people try to hand me stuff, so today I caved in:

Since I’m not inclined to do any kind of propaganda for these people, I’ve smudged the name of the pleading party. But I like the lighter, it seems solid enough and it’s refillable. The pen, well, it’s just another pen, but it’s free, so I won’t complain.
I’d rather complain about something else: I’m not going to be in Austria during the election (31st of May until 2nd of June), so I asked someone at the students union if there’s an option to vote before or maybe via Internet or absentee ballot. Well, there’s no option. Now, I do understand the plea of the student union to go and vote, because last time a mere 28% of the student body did vote. Which is disastrous and casts a certain light on the perceived importance of the students union. But if it’s so damn important for us to vote, why isn’t it possible for people who are not able to be there? Doesn’t this seem a bit provincial, amateurish even?
Today, as part of my girlfriend’s birthday celebration, we went and saw the excellent Rene Magritte exhibition presently on display in Vienna. Here’s a link to the exhibition website. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve always liked Magritte much better than Dali. Of course, Dali’s got the press and did the Lindbergh baby prank, but Magritte seems much more subtle to me. And subtle I like.
