Well, here it is. The worst case scenario. Bloglines, my web-based feed reader, is down. I can’t log in, although my firefox extension keeps showing me a huge amount of unread posts. I can’t believe I’ve become so dependend on that damn thing. I feel like I’m paralyzed because I can’t check on my feeds. Manually clicking all those links to the sites I read daily seems like a far-distant past, and I don’t think I’ll have the patience to actually do it. So all that’s left for me to do is to go and do the grocery-shopping now, hoping that Bloglines will be up on my return. Arghh.

why don’t you use a standalone application for feeds? would be more “independent”.
Good point, and I’ve thought about it often. The reason I haven’t adopted one yet (and it would be aKregator for KDE) is that I just like the flexibility of a web-based reader. I can actually read it from every computer and it’s easy to update or add feeds via Firefox plugins. I do wish now that I’d at least kept aKregator synched with Bloglines.
I was in the same situation. If Bloglines is down I’m totally paralyzed, but now is working again.
It seems there was a problem with the database. Somebody have seen any official information about what happened?
there should be something like imap mail for feeds then. btw: snownews, but it’s a matter of taste
