Literature Lecture

I just returned from another long day at the university. “Long” as in three lectures. Oh well. The last one was a literature lecture on 20th century British drama, and I couldn’t resist shooting a photo with my cameraphone. So, enjoy the blurry reality of university life:

Sophie Scholl movie

On Saturday, we also went and saw the Sophie Scholl movie. It’s a brilliantly acted movie, and contrary to what some people might fear, not at all filled with pathos.

The great thing about the movie is, that it not only sports a great lead actress, German newcomer Julia Jentsch, but also a bunch of extremely good supports. For example the interrogator, German actor Gerald Alexander Held, whose questioning of Sophie Scholl is something like the central point of the movie, is hauntingly good. I don’t want to put any spoilers in here, in case you’re going to watch the movie yourself - which you should - but be prepared to be overwhelmed.

Dessert of death

My sisters visited us yesterday, so we went out and had something to eat (amongst other things). My sister and I shared some dessert. I was close to throwing up afterwards. Here are the remains.

dessert - half eaten
(Which reminds me that my sister paid for the dessert to make things easier, and I think I forgot to give her my share. I’m sure she’s cursing her forgetfulness right now. You’ll get it back, I promise.)

Google once again

I just can’t seem to stop praising Google. Blame my infatuation on the hype, but you may as well blame it on the fact that they keep providing us with more and more things we’ll be soon regarding as indispensable. Take for example their new version of Google News. You can now customize it down to the very last bit of information. I for example never liked the fact that the US version didn’t cover Austrian news…which of course they are not to blame for. But simply using Austrian Google News wouldn’t give me all of the other news I want. Now you can simply create your own sections, choose from any localized Google News version they have (and they have plenty), create your own customized headlines and whatnot. It looks like the best online news service has just entered the building. And I can’t stop reading the news now.
