According to the online edition of the Austrian newspaper “Der Standard”, Microsoft’s newest version of Windows, Longhorn, will incorporate technologies to prevent people from stealing copyright-protected media. The big labels are supporting Microsoft, supplying M. with lists of functions they should build into the operating system, so your computer always knows what music you’re allowed to copy and which one you’re not. But Microsoft could take it a bit further. Why only build in functions to prevent copying music, why not simply tell users what music they can listen to? Or, instead of crippling other browsers by making it impossible to view Microsoft-owned sites like Hotmail , simply hard-code a list of preferred Internet-sites into the operating system. I’m sure there are quite a few companies out there who’d love to shell out a few million bucks to make sure only their product is supported by Microsoft. Just combine that with Microsoft’s very own creation, the smart tags, and you’ve got a totally new business at hand.

I messed up the code for wordpress…if only that backup would work.
Update: I guess I fixed it.
Update 2: And I deleted the last post…FYI: I’m back in Vienna, what you’re seeing is the new blogging script, and I desperately need to study for three exams, one of which I don’t even know what it’s going to be. Chaos.
Alright, I am now officially done with importing those greymatter postings. And I think I’m just about done with the overall design. Maybe a few changes here and there, but I’m not sure. Be sure to check out those archives, I spent the last four hours making them worthwhile to look at and read.
Good night.
Well, I’m on the one hand working on that terrible paper I’m trying to hand in, in order to finally get a grade. And on the other hand, almost literally, I’m trying to get a new blogging-software up and running. Not that I don’t like greymatter anymore, but it’s just a bit featureless…having a database, php-driven site is simply a bit more comfortable. It’s not exactly easy to set up though….if you don’t want to spend any money. So, if anyone knows where to get free webspace, no ads, PHP support and MySQL databases, please do tell.
Well, I need to get my teeth back in shape….so I’ll leave in half an hour to let some stranger put strange things into my mouth, trying to strike up a conversation, which undoubtedly will result in me mumbling incomprehensive things about inane topics…somehow like that website, only a lot more fun.
UPDATE: Wasn’t that bad really…two minutes check, new date fixed, done. I’m a lucky bastard.
